The saga goes on! I turned up at AT Computers in Cardiff today (the Apple reseller)… only to find that, lo and behold, the computer had not arrived and was still marked as ‘awaiting parts’. After having a member of staff publicly harass me in front of about 7 or 8 other customers, I asked to speak to the technician who had supposedly held back the machine. After several more excuses including the line “We have nothing to do with Apple…” (which I found odd, for a reseller), and “The booking sheet says 3-4 weeks for repairs, you signed that.” “Yes I did, this is week 6. Your point?”, I was finally put through to the technician.
(And on…) He said that the machine had been tested working but he would “like to keep it a few more days, to make sure it really actually is working,” and that it would be “Wednesday at the earliest,” for me to pick it up.
7 week repairs anybody?
Needless to say, after being harassed and dismissed, I left the shop and emailed the guy at Apple… who promptly phoned the technician to get the story off of him, and then phoned me. The technician had told a completely different story to the Apple guy than he had told me – and Mr. Apple Man was not best pleased about that. Another phone call later (again, to the technician) and apparently a courier was called in on an emergency pickup a mere 30 minutes after I’d left the shop, to deliver the computer first thing on Monday.
So now, I have a tracking order… and still no computer. I’m £10 down on petrol costs, and I’ve been harassed by an Apple representative in front of a store full of customers.
