Well, I don’t usually get caught into these memes, but I’ve been explicitly tagged by Sebastian, so I thought I’d give it a go. Here are seven, hopefully interesting, facts about me (in no particular order of relevance)!
- I am a huge motorsports fan, and have been for many, many years now. Any variety of motorsport counts (well, please, the lawnmower racing really isn’t that fun…). I’ve not missed an F1 race since the 1996 season, and whilst many may consider that sad, I’ve enjoyed most of the races between then and now – even the monotonous Schumacher era – though, admittedly, not as much!
- Out of all of the things that frustrate me about the UK, one of my biggest qualms is the dual-language road signs here, in Wales. They’re a waste of taxpayer’s money, and redundant for 99% of the population of Wales, anyway (who all speak English). Add to this that they’re frequently mis-translated, and you have yourself something largely useless.
- I’m a final-year BSc Computer Science student at Cardiff University‘s School of Computer Science, but I am enrolled for Regents Theological College to begin a BA Applied Theology course in September 2009! A strange progression? Perhaps…

- On a related note to point #1, I am a sim-racing addict. For those not in the know, sim-racing is the ‘sport’ of driving racing simulators (rather than simply arcade titles, like Gran Turismo or Need for Speed). I’ve been addicted to this since the age of 5, when I first got my hand’s on Geoff Crammond’s fantastic F1GP/World Circuit. Since then, I’ve been heavily involved in various sim-racing communities, and have recently become the General Manager of RaceSimCentral. I also don’t hate rFactor like most Live for Speed fanboys seem to

- When I’m not studying or sim-racing, I love to study Biblical theology. As a Christian, I find this not only a fascinating intellectual task but also vital, spiritually. My favourite author is a Danish philosopher and theologian called Søren Kierkegaard… His writings really appeal to me, as he was a man who clearly had thought through every aspect of his faith, never just believing to follow a crowd, but always with reason and purpose. The fact that his books were never written to be published, gives an astonishingly ‘honest’ view of him as a person, and the faith he held onto so closely.
- I have a keen interest in many developing technologies… and would definitely class myself as being a true geek, in every sense of the word. However, there are a number of technologies I specifically have very little interest in (simply because of the evident futility of the ‘development’ efforts associated with them), and I wish people would stop harping on about them. Additionally, whilst I like gadgets and shiny things, I cannot understand people spending hundreds of pounds, at the drop of a hat, just so they can say they have the latest x, or the shiniest y, or the biggest… well, you get the idea.
- After the 2007 WTCC race at Brands Hatch, I managed to negotiate my way into being given 30 used Yokohama racing tyres from Seat Racing… unfortunately, I could only fit one in my car. It currently sits in my garage and will, one day, be made into a coffee table. I can only wonder how much money I could have made, selling 30 racing tyres, on eBay, as souvenirs… I know only one thing: next time, I’m taking a van with me.
Now, apparently, I need to tag 7 people. Unfortunately, I don’t think I have 7 people to tag, so I’m just gonna go ahead and tag Tim, Jos and Sam.
