WTCC @ Brands Hatch

Last weekend, Kate and I went down to the Brands Hatch circuit in Kent, to watch the World Touring Car Championship. I was invited as a VIP of SimBin, who have produced a number of sim-racing titles, including the official WTCC ‘games’.

The weekend was absolutely fantastic, as I was able to procure not only a paddock pass, but also a media centre and pitlane pass. The latter being an absolute gem in it’s own right - meaning I could waltz around the pitlane whilst the race was in progress, making for great photo opportunities. I had a fantastic time taking photos from all over the track, and Kate was an absolute darling in going on ahead of me to ’scout out’ great new locations for photographs - what would I do without her?

On top of it all, I got to talk to some of the guys from SimBin, who are - like myself - keen sim-racers - and I got some good insights into the way they’re moving forward in the development of their physics engine. Mark, Bram (both of them), Henrik… the lot of them were top guys and I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend - especially the free cookies in the VIP area… very tasty.

Regardless, I thought I’d turn this post into a small photo blog… these are a few unedited photos from the 746 photos I took over the course of the weekend. I came out with about 55 that I really like, and a bunch more besides that can be deemed as ‘good’. I’ll get around to editing them (colour balancing, etc.) eventually.

So, without further ado (click to expand to 1024×768 images - please don’t reproduce them anywhere):

Direction

For a whlie now, I’ve been wondering about what to say and what not to say here. I often feel that I don’t really have anything that interesting to say, and so just abandon the idea of saying it (hence the big gaps in blogging). I’m quite happy to blog about technology, as that is my passion, but is there much point when there are sites like Slashdot that cover pretty much all I’d like to say, anyway? I could talk about day-to-day life, but I’m pretty sure the daily grind doesn’t interest anyone.

So, tell me… what’s interesting? What should I blog about? And whilst you’re thinking, take a look at this amazing photocopier.

Back to Uni!

So, it’s been a long time since I’ve blogged and it’s time to go back to Uni. I start again on Monday, after getting my timetable today. Some interesting modules going on, things like Program Design in Java, more Discrete Mathematics, etc. as well as some Networking and Databasing stuff next semester. Should be fun!

I’ll hopefully start blogging again soon… When I have something to say.
